Music with Monica provides lively and motivating music groups for parents and their babies, toddlers and young children aged 0-4 years. All groups are designed and run by a Registered Music Therapist who uses live music to facilitate lots of developmentally appropriate musical play.
Music with Monica classes use live music to enhance your child’s overall development, including areas such as:
- social skills
- gross and fine motor skills
We promote joint participation between you and your child, so you learn new ways to use music in the home while also sharing in the joy and fun of the sessions as your child bangs on the drum, shakes a shaker, sings their favourite songs or claps their hands along to the music.
Music with Monica groups are child-centred, interactive and inclusive. We use lots of props, scarves, bubbles, balls for bouncing on and rolling around, a parachute, dancing ribbons and lots more to enhance the musical experience. We also incorporate key-word signing and picture symbols to further enhance the experience for children with special needs.
Music with Monica classes are currently run across the Gold Coast with new locations coming soon. Bookings are essential as places are limited. The program runs in 10 week blocks and we offer a special family rate so your whole family can attend the same program, together.
Founder of Music with Monica, Monica Zidar, is a Registered Music Therapist who has worked on the Gold Coast since graduating from University of Qld in 2000. During this time, she has specialized in the delivery of music therapy to children with special needs with an emphasis on early intervention. Music with Monica was born when Monica became
a mum herself and couldn’t find a quality, play-based, live music program that she could participate in with both her sons, together. Music with Monica has achieved this and continues to expand with new locations planned for 2015. We are planning Mudgeeraba and Paradise Point bringing us to 8 locations from Casuarina to Coomera Springs.
Music With Monica website has its own online shop where you can find quality musical instruments, especially suitable for little hands. Monica is proud to use all these instruments in her sessions and donates 25% of all online sales to her charity project that aims to fund music therapy for children with special needs in the future.
