There will be no better place to welcome in the 2015 Chinese New Year than at Sanctuary Cove with a host of free family fun including traditional lion dancing, fire cracker and kung fu displays, Chinese-inspired craft workshops, entertainment and authentic cuisine.

From Thursday February 19 to Sunday February 22, The Marine Village at Sanctuary Cove will play host to a sensational four-day celebration to salute the Year of the Sheep.

In what is set to be the Gold Coast’s best destination to ring in the Chinese New Year, everyone from kids to adults can get involved in the weekend’s traditional Chinese activities and workshops with Griffith University’s Tourism Confucius Institute, which includes kite making, mask painting and Chinese calligraphy.

Be entertained by exhilarating performances featuring colourful lion dancers, as well as a fire cracker and a kung fu display, at 6.30pm daily and 12.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Kids and adults will have the opportunity to interact with the lions, pat them for good luck and learn the art of kung fu in a supervised and controlled environment following the 12.30pm performances on Saturday and Sunday.

Indulge in the taste of Asia with a traditional lunch and dinner banquet menu on offer at Dragon Cove Chinese Cuisine, which includes homemade spring rolls, Xiao Long Bao, steamed fish with ginger and shallot and peking pork ribs for $58 per person. Bookings essential, call (07) 5577 9918.

Visitors to Sanctuary Cove’s Chinese New Year celebrations will have the opportunity to enter the draw to win a $500 Marine Village Gift Voucher, as well as vouchers for one month’s free kung fu training and private 30 minute kung fu lessons with Mantis Kung Fu Academy.

The event is proudly sponsored by Mulpha Sanctuary Cove and supported by the Tourism Confucius Institute at Griffith University and Dragon Cove Chinese Cuisine.
