Coolangatta Celebrates 130 Years

It is Coolangatta’s 130th birthday! Celebrate the history and heritage of the Gold Coast on Sunday 27 April at the free family fun day.

From 9am at the Greenmount Surf Club they will be celebrating the old days with the Hokey Pokey. You can see 50s and 60s fashions, classic Kombis, vintage surf displays and surf boats and the Old Boys will be around to show you around and to tell tales about the “good ol’ days”. Grab abreakfast sausage, coffee, or ice cream and listen to music from a live Ukulele duo and other tunes from the era.

From 10am, visit the Kirra Hill Community Centre to browse the heritage displays and market stalls. See more classic Kombis, cars and vintage caravans, join a tour of the school and hear some old stories. If you have any collectables, bring them along for a free antique valuation.

A great time to relax, enjoy the Runaway Bay Rotary sausage sizzle or a devonshire tea by the QCWA, and be entertained by the 20 piece Ukulele band.
