Get involved: National Volunteer Week

Volunteer week is a time of gratitude and celebration of all the people around the country who have dedicated an amount of their time to help worthy causes. Many of these great charities would not be able to do the amazing work that they do without them.

Volunteering Australia‘s theme for this year’s celebrations is “Celebrate the power of volunteering“, so take a moment to appreciate the hard work that these people do. And if you’re a volunteer yourself, take the time to reward yourself for your contribution to the cause.

This week can also be a great time to look into getting involved yourself if you have the opportunity to.

There are all kinds of opportunities to volunteer around the country, whether you’re a skilled or just eager to lend a hand. There are localised opportunities you can browse online and local resource centres you can contact to find out about where you can help out closer to home.

A little while ago, a Gold Coast mum asked this question of our community:

We are looking to find volunteering/community services that are available around South Gold Coast/Tweed area and are child friendly. We are thinking about getting our 6 year old involved and looking for a great organization.

Read the answers we received.
