Timeless Treasures Market goes Blue for Autism Awareness

Calling Gold Coast lovers of all things vintage, antique, retro, upcycled, recycled, repurposed, and handmade.

Gold Coast mums Lisa and Cassandra are combining their passion for the past with a desire to raise funds for Autism Queensland’s annual Go Blue for Autism campaign by turning the Timeless Treasures Vintage Market blue on Saturday 12th April.

Stallholders selling vintage clothing, retro homewares, antique crockery, repurposed, upcycled or recycled creations will dress in blue and donate items for a cent auction to help raise funds. There will also be blue cupcakes and official Autism Awareness merchandise galore for sale, as well as goody bags for the first 100 to “buy blue”.

Timeless Treasure’s organiser Lisa said her 11 year old son Zane was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of autism, at the age of seven.

She decided to team up with other stallholders who have children with autism to turn the market blue to help to raise autism awareness, which she describes as a ‘hidden disorder’.

“Kids with autism look normal but they can really struggle with things that others take for granted,” she said.

“We decided to host the fundraiser to do our bit to raise autism awareness and how the condition is affecting so many families.”
