Get up close and personal with the Empire as Dreamworld celebrates Star Wars Day.

Travelling from across the galaxy, Darth Vader and his faithful minions will once again descend on Dreamworld for the annual Storm Troopers Weekend on 4-5 May 2013 to raise funds for Starlight Children’s Foundation.

This year’s event is anticipated to attract more sci-fi fans than ever before because for the first time the Storm Troopers Weekend starts on Star Wars Day, May 4.

Kids are invited to join the midday parade and to learn the art of the light saber at the ‘Jedi Academy.’ Guests can also enjoy having their photo taken amongst scenes including, the Death Star CorridorTrash Compactor and be the face of an action figure trading card.

Already 120 members of the 501st Legion have confirmed they will be attending the event, making it the biggest gathering of 501st Legion Star Wars Garrisons in the Southern Hemisphere.

The 501st Legion, the Australian contingent of the Redback Garrison is a Star Wars costuming group who pride themselves on being ‘bad guys, doing good’ for countless charities across the globe.

For the fourth year the 501st Legion will donate the funds from the Dreamworld Storm Troopers Weekend to the Starlight Children’s Foundation who for 25 years has brightened the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children, and their families, throughout Australia.

At the event volunteers from the Starlight Children’s Foundation will be selling merchandise, members of the 501st Legion will be collecting donations plus Dreamworld will donate a percentage of ticket sales from the weekend to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Members of the 501st Legion and children are invited to come dressed in costume however for safety reasons not all costumes and props will be permitted on Dreamworld’s rides and attractions.
