Currumbin Valley Rock Pools

This is a great place to spend a hot summer’s day!

It is very popular with families, couples and grandparents.  It has a relaxing and tranquil feel about it that you can enjoy all year round.

The drive to the Currumbin Rock Pools is through idyllic and lush countryside.  Just 12klm up the valley from Currumbin Beach, this drive is as spectacular at the rock pools themselves.  Enjoy the drive while taking in the sites of the farms and nurseries along the way.  Some farmers sell their produce at certain times of the year, so keep an eye open for the roadside stalls selling fruit, vegetables and eggs.

Make sure you check out Currumbin Valley Pottery Place & Plover Gallery which sells interesting and unique pottery works.

Just past this gallery are the rock pools which will provide hours of exploration and fun for children of all ages.  With a very large grassed area to run and around and stretch those legs after the drive, or dip your toes in the icy water, relax and watch the birds coming down for a drink.  There is something for everyone to enjoy!

Children must be supervised in this areas as there are no lifeguards on patrol at any time during the year.

This is the perfect place for a picnic lunch or bbq.  There are gas bbq’s located on the upper level near the amenities or wood bbq’s on the lower level near the calm waters.  You may need to bring some kindle with you as the wood bbq’s are very popular.  There are a few sheltered picnic table areas both on the upper and lower levels or you can always bring a picnic rug and enjoy a relaxing lounge on the grassed area.  There are trees to provide shade but it can get hot in the summer months so a collapsible gazebo could always provide extra shade as well.

The water can be quite cold during the winter months so you may want to bring a cricket set or soccer ball and enjoy some games on the large grassy area.  If bush walking is your thing, Mt Cougal National Park is only 6klm away where you can choose from several levels of walks.  Why not check out the Cougals Cascades, mountain pool or the unused sawmill while you are in the area.

This area is very popular with locals and visitors to the area.  You will need to get there early to secure a great vantage spot to watch the kids splash in the cool mountain waters or grab the best picnic table.  This is definately a place to relax, unwind and leave the stresses behind you.
