Evandale Lake and Sculpture Walk

Another Gold Coast gem – perhaps the pick of our cities parks, with so much on offer for a beautiful day out with family or friends.

As you arrive in Bundall, the park is situated behind the Council Chambers and the Gold Coast Arts Centre, and there is a great view of Surfers Paradise skyline – definitely plenty of photo opportunities.  It’s positioned on the Nerang River so remember to bring your fishing gear, lots of hungry biting fish here kids!   Maybe a few breadcrumbs from leftover lunch might help to stir them up!  There are several picturesque little beaches dotted along the river, so you’re sure to find your own space to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Besides the river the park features a lagoon available for nippers or recreational swimmers. If you’re looking to keep fit or just a quick paddle, it’s a safe swimming environment. There are showers and toilets nearby to freshen up after your dip.  If fitness is your thing, you will certainly enjoy the almost 700m stretch of free exercise equipment, in a circuit loop.  There is also a beach volley ball court about 30 metres from the lagoon, behind the chambers so make sure you pack a ball to have some fun here as well.

The kiddies playground is very popular, its shaded, and has sand underfoot – being that its fully fenced is that extra peace of mind for little ones too.  Separate slides, a quad see-saw so up to four kids can join in the fun.

Once the family has worked up an appetite, you can use any of the many barbeques or picnic shelters available.  There are water taps and toilets available. You never know – whilst you are eating lunch, there might be a wedding on in the charming little purpose-built chapel.  After lunch, enjoy a leisurely stroll along the path that runs around the lagoon and enjoy the interesting outdoor sculptures designed by various artists.

This park has been one of the landmarks of the Gold Coast for a long time – with good reason.  There is so much space and variety of activities; it will appeal to people of all ages.
