TALK TO THE ANIMALS

There are so many things to do at Australia Zoo to help make your day extra-special. With the zoo’s ‘Animal Encounters’, you can get up close and hands-on with a resident Komodo Dragon or feed an Asian elephant. The cuddling of a koala is another experience not to be missed. You can also visit the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, the aim of which is to become the biggest and best centre for wildlife care in the world and where up to 6,800 sick or wounded animals are treated every year. These experiences are priced separately to your admission cost and generally need to be booked ahead of time.

SNAP!

In the Wildlife Studio, you can have your photo taken with a baby American Alligator or a massive Burmese Pythons. Zookeepers also move throughout the grounds of the zoo with animals like snakes, birds and possums, providing many opportunities to have photos taken with the animals and for your Gold Coast Kid to get a bit hands-on.

SHARE A SNACK

Visitors young and not-so-young will have a blast feeding the animals at Australia Zoo. Feeding times vary throughout the day, however be sure to check out the Asian elephant feeding to experience these magnificent animals up close. Young Gold Coast Kids can hand-feed a baby pig and other farm animals in the Kids’ Zoo. ‘Roo food’ is also available for purchase to feed the kangaroos as they roam their open-range enclosure.

THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT

See and get near the Asian elephants at feeding time. Watch the lively otters come out to play. See and learn about some incredible birds of prey. Be sure to get to the Crocoseum to see the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors. Along with saltwater crocodiles, massive snakes and huge elephants, the Wildlife Warriors put on an amazing and breathtaking show.
