Creatures at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

At Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Gold Coast Kids can grab a cuddle from a koala or handfeed kangaroos anytime they want. The sanctuary offers visitors the chance to meet a wide range of Australian wildlife in a gorgeous natural setting. At Lone Pine, you can also feed the lorikeets twice daily or watch the Sheepdog show in the Nature Kingdom. The Birds of Prey show held daily is a must-see and always extremely popular, giving visitors an awe-inspiring close encounter with owls, kites and eagles. Photo opportunities with snakes, koalas and most of the other animals of the sanctuary are available throughout the day.

Experiences for Gold Coast Kids at Lone Pine

Gold Coast Kids can have an exciting day-long experience during the holidays at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. ‘Keeper’ experiences are fully supervised by experienced wildlife education officers. ‘Junior Keeper for a Day’ is targeted at children aged 5 to 12 years, whilst ‘Teen Keeper for the Day’ is for bigger Gold Coast Kids between 13 and 17 years of age. All keepers get a peek behind the scenes and participate in the daily tasks carried out by wildlife officers. Keepers get the opportunity to escort dingoes or wombats on their daily walks, get close to the sanctuary’s native residents like snakes, owls and koalas. Experiences range in price, depending on whether you are a ‘Friend of the Sanctuary’.

Wildlife Wednesdays at Lone Pine Sanctuary

Every Wednesday afternoon at the Riverside Café, a member of the Lone Pine Education Team and a furry (or not-so-furry!) friend is waiting to meet you and answer all of your questions. Parents can relax in the café with an organic coffee while children get up close and personal with teeth, claws and paws.  There is no admission fee for Wildlife Wednesdays, making this an inexpensive and exciting afternoon out for Gold Coast Kids. The Riverside Café is located inside main gates, just outside the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary ticket office.

Access Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
